An internal technical issue caused stock to halt trading on all symbols and all open orders were cancelled today. There is still no timeline on when the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) will resume trading but the NYSE have assured people that it is in fact an internal issue and not the result of a cyber breach and while they are not trading during this issue NYSE-listed securities will continue to be traded on other market centres.
Trading halted at 11:30 a.m. ET an the cause to this issue is currently being investigated. The NASDAQ is still trading without any issues and are still successfully trading NYSE securities they informed us in a tweet.
It has emerged that a software update that was released before trading opened this morning has resulted in the issue.
NYSE told floor traders that problem is related to new software rolled out before trading opened, acc. to trader http://t.co/gPrKzlOWue
